PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline Quinone)
coenzymeAlso known as: Pyrroloquinoline Quinone, BioPQQ, Methoxatin
About
PQQ is a redox cofactor that stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis and acts as an exceptionally potent antioxidant (5,000 catalytic cycles vs. 4 for vitamin C). A small RCT found PQQ at 20 mg/day significantly reduced LDL cholesterol and CRP, but larger cardiovascular-specific human trials are needed.
How It Works
Redox cofactor that stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis through PGC-1alpha/SIRT1/AMPK signaling pathways; acts as an exceptionally potent antioxidant protecting mitochondrial membranes and reducing oxidative stress-induced endothelial damage; supports NAD+ synthesis indirectly by enhancing cellular energy metabolism; modulates NF-kB reducing vascular inflammation.
