About

Olive leaf extract contains oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol — the most potent natural antioxidant measured by ORAC — with ACE-inhibitory activity. A landmark 2011 RCT (148 hypertensive patients) found olive leaf extract at 500 mg BID reduced systolic blood pressure by 11.5 mmHg — comparable to captopril. EFSA has approved a health claim for olive oil polyphenols protecting LDL from oxidation.

How It Works

Oleuropein inhibits ACE activity reducing angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction; enhances endothelial nitric oxide production; potent antioxidant activity protects LDL from oxidation (hydroxytyrosol is the most potent natural antioxidant by ORAC); anti-inflammatory via NF-kB and COX-2 inhibition; improves arterial elasticity.
