Curcumin
herbAlso known as: Turmeric Extract, Curcuma longa, Diferuloylmethane, Theracurmin, Longvida, Meriva
About
Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, is a potent modulator of vascular inflammation through NF-kB, JAK/STAT, and MAPK pathway inhibition. A 2017 meta-analysis found curcumin significantly reduced total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides in metabolic syndrome patients. Enhanced bioavailability formulations (Theracurmin, Longvida, Meriva) provide 25-185x improvements over standard curcumin.
How It Works
Potent modulator of vascular inflammation through NF-kB, JAK/STAT, and MAPK pathway inhibition; reduces endothelial expression of adhesion molecules decreasing monocyte recruitment; improves endothelial function by enhancing eNOS expression and nitric oxide bioavailability; reduces ox-LDL uptake by macrophages inhibiting foam cell formation; anti-thrombotic activity via COX-2 inhibition.
