About
Astaxanthin is a xanthophyll carotenoid with antioxidant potency 6,000x greater than vitamin C, uniquely spanning the entire cell membrane bilayer. A 2020 meta-analysis of 14 RCTs found it significantly reduced plasma MDA (lipid peroxidation marker) and increased total antioxidant capacity. Studies in overweight subjects showed significant LDL and oxidative stress marker reductions.
How It Works
A xanthophyll carotenoid with antioxidant potency 6,000x greater than vitamin C; spans the entire cell membrane bilayer providing protection against lipid peroxidation; reduces ox-LDL formation; improves blood rheology by increasing membrane fluidity of erythrocytes; modulates inflammatory pathways via NF-kB and JAK/STAT inhibition.
